18th August

Once again... what an incredible show. It is amazing to see so many of you returning but also the growth of new competitors - welcome to the Bee Happy Community, we really are becoming one big family.

We were very lucky with the weather; it wasn’t too hot and thankfully it wasn’t wet.
It was great to see the canteen full at lunch time. It was also very heart-warming to receive the high amount of appreciation shown by the venue. They were thankful for us inviting them to open the kitchen as this supports them raising money for the village hall but if anything, they are supporting me in making my dream come true and hosting a community feel competition. My competitors have somewhere to eat and recharge, as well as promoting an opportunity to come together. The village hall received a great profit from the food, which is a great donation to developing their village hall and allows them to continuously make improvements. This is heart-warming because it is going to a great cause! I am so very grateful to the venue for allowing us to do these shows.

Similarly, you guys also show so much gratitude towards the shows. A few of you informed me how you appreciate the opportunities to be able to practice / train with your companionships. Due to us being an independent show, we kind of expect competitors to be able to train their dog. One word of advice: either go in, already knowing you are going to train, then tell the scrime that you are going in for Not For Competition then you can have your toys and non-crumbly treats visible, you will be given up to a minute in the ring and then after a minute the scrime will call the end of the minute when you will then exit the ring, in respect to other dogs. Alternatively, go into the show with a competitive head on but hide the toy in your pocket, if your dog is struggling or has achieved something spectacular, get the toy out and be eliminated but at least your dog has been rewarded.

Bee Happy IDA Shows are designed to be that stepping stone from training to KC Shows and the way we run them are similar to KC but way more relaxed. We aimed for this because we want to encourage the learning of etiquette and rules without the pressure of a KC show and their standards are a lot higher and you don’t want to get them wrong on the day.

The main thing with our shows is that you have a good day out with a bunch of lovely people, have fun and hit your personal achievements. Hopefully see you all for the September show, also keep a look out for our winter shows!
